Race to Space Exhibit
Exhibit Design
The Race to Space Exhibit is a feature of the Garrett Reisman Center for Air and Space at the Monmouth Museum. I designed the exhibit which features, interactive elements and artifact displays. The right hand side the exhibit covers how Grumman went from making airplanes for the WW2 war effort to developing the Lunar Module. This section features documents from a Grumman employee who worked on the spacecrafts. The center features a “map” of the Space Race where children can follow along the achievements that were made and use light up buttons to track which country reached them first. There are also several noise boxes along the race where they can hear material like the “We Choose to Go to the Moon” speech and Neil Armstrong’s first words on the moon. To the far left of the exhibit are commemorative items from the space race era including toys, magazines, wine bottles, piggy banks, etc. In front of the exhibit is a meteorite, signage explaining how meteorites shaped the surface of the moon and a play area where kids can learn about and make their own craters.
Tyrannosaurus Rex Exhibit
Exhibit Design
As this T-rex exhibit is in a children’s museum it was important that it be easy to navigate and quickly learn from. That is why I chose this infographic format that is light on text and uses simple imagery to help portray key points. The infographic also creates a background and environment for the “dinosaur nest” play area that sits in front of it.
Aquaponic System Exhibit
Exhibit Design
These floor graphics allow for an in-depth explanation on how the aquaponic systems works in a space where traditional signage was not possible. As patrons walk 360 degrees around the system the panel at their feet will explain exactly what is happening in each pipe, filter, and mechanical piece and how they help the plants and fish to thrive.
